The world's leading guide to luxury..

The future looks bright for travellers seeking the best that money can buy. There is a healthy on going investment in hotels offering the high end facilities demanded by a growing, discerning clientele.

Hotel Groups are responding with the provision of luxury facilities notwithstanding major challenges from influences beyond their control - for example global warming and terrorism.

Destinations offering security and peace of mind to visitors will be high on the list of most luxury seeking travellers.

A sense of security is essential from start to finish and this includes airports, ports, cities, and transfers.

I know many people are uncomfortable when they encounter heavily armed police at airports etc, but for my part it gives me an assurance that someone is not only concerned about my safety, but are also prepared to take whatever measures are needed to guarantee it.

Most countries have a financial reliance on tourism and they should invest in ensuring this lucrative income stream is not adversely affected by sloppy, or sometimes non- existent security. I agree that measures can often appear over zealous - and a pain in the backside – but I will take them every day, rather than have my well being endangered by extremist morons.

Heaven only knows the cost to Paris in particular -and France in general- of the antics of the “gilets juanes”. It must have frustrated all those who benefit from the attractions of the “city of light”. Similar anti –social or terrorist behaviour around the globe will be equally damaging to regional and national economies despite Monsieur Macrons comments to the contrary. However I believe France in all its glory will weather this storm. It deserves to and the french are to warm   and resilient a people to be spoiled by a minority hooligan element.Vive la France.

No one wants an experience where they feel trapped in a compound for the duration of their holiday. A stroll along silver sands, trip to the local shopping centre/bazaar, coffee on the terrace of a chic bar whilst people watching, admiring famous landmarks or works of art etc etc should all be fundamental activities to be enjoyed without fear or prejudice to ones safety.

The onus lies with the respective governments and local authorities to protect their heritage and most of all to foster a feeling of total safety for free spending visitors. Although www.centenaryclub.com provides help and ideas for the luxury traveller we feel it is the responsibility of all destinations to offer adequate and effective security to all visitors

Our own Newsletter merely supplements this and from time to time expresses an opinion which we hope will prove helpful to our readers and the luxury market as a whole.

Welcome to 2019 :-

With well in excess of 800 partners now featured on our pages-and a waiting list of dozens more-our advice to our members is to use the search engine (shown top right of the page). By entering a destination country, or city you can focus your search and save yourself time. As you will realise at www.centenaryclub.com we are not a booking engine we are a referral site allowing you quick access to the websites of our partners. This not only allows you to get a feel for the facility you seek but also offers up to date information on seasonal offers and rates and affords you the opportunity to deal direct with the facility without going through an agent. There is no commission involved which often enables the facility to offer more attractive rates to you the consumer.

At the moment, other than better rates by booking direct,  free advice and an independent reliable guide to all things luxury, there are no obvious benefits to being a  member of www.centenaryclub.com However negotiations with a major premium credit card provider are under way which will open a whole new raft of attractive consumer benefits. So please stay patient and in the meantime enjoy browsing this unique luxury site.
